O’Shaquie Foster will defend his World Boxing Council super featherweight title Eduardo ‘Rocky’ Hernández, on Saturday night at the Benito Juárez Sports Center in Cancún, Mexico, presented by DAZN, in association with Pepe Gómez and Cancún Boxing.
Both fighters were face to face at a press conference this Thursday and each was brimming with confidence.
“I am excited for the opportunity to return to the ring and defend my title. Once again, we are entering uncharted territory, so I am eager to prove I am the best in the world and that I am here to stay,” commented Foster.
“I have dreamed of this moment all my life. I am going to win the title and show the world that I am the best in the division,” vowed Hernández.
Foster (20-2 11 KOs) captured the vacant belt in San Antonio, Texas in February, becoming the first fighter to defeat Mexican Rey Vargas on points to become world champion at his first try. The Houston faces a Mexican opponent again in his first defense.
Hernandez (34-1, 31 KOs) gets his mandatory shot at Foster on Mexican turf and will relish having his first world title fight. ‘Rocky’ has been on a ferocious streak of KO victories, recording his sixth straight wins, with a third-round beating of Hector Garcia in Monterrey in July.
