At the Prudential Center in Newark, United States, Brazilian Robson Conceicao (19-2-1, 9 KO) won the World Boxing Council super featherweight title by defeating O’Shaquie Foster by split decision.
The fight was very close up to the halfway point, but Robson with every sinew of determination and his mind singularly focused, gathered himself, gathered pace and fought his heart out in the Championship Rounds, for his family and especially his daughters. He`d come up short thrice, but never gave up and finally reached the top of the World.
Today, we had the opportunity to speak with the brand-new world champion, via zoom during our Coffee Tuesday and Robson, who had been determined not to settle for Hobson`s choice this time, had to say with a beaming smile, relaxing at home in Brazil.
Robson Conceicao:
”I am very happy to win the crown on my fourth attempt. It was a great opportunity, and I am extremely grateful to the WBC.
”I’m already home with my family. I made a promise to my daughters that I would present them with the belt and I am very happy that I kept my promise.
”My plans are to rest for a few days. Later I will return to the gym, I would like to have a rematch fight with Oscar Valdez. I’m going to be ready for whatever comes, whether it’s against Foster or Valdez.
”My dream is to be able to fight in Brazil and defend my World Boxing Council crown in my country. I can only tell you not to give up on achieving your dreams. Keep going, stay strong and don’t stop until you achieve it.”
