At the traditional “Coffee Tuesdays” new WBC featherweight champion, Rey Vargas received from the hands of WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman, the belt that he won by defeating the Filipino Mark Magsayo by split decision at the Aladome Dome in San Antonio, Texas.
A night of triumph where Rey once again demonstrated his heart and especially the work that exists behind the spotlight.
A delighted Rey thanked everyone who made it possible for this new dream to come true, but especially his family who have been his driving force and his great foundation not only today but always, plus his trainer Don Nacho Beristain, a man who has known how to guide and direct him, who always gives him peace of mind when he is in his corner.
Already with the belt in his hands, Rey still has a huge smile remembering that moment when the announcer said: “And the new…”
Moved by the words that his mother and his sister dedicated to him, Rey says nothing would change his essence and that today and always his family will come first; however, he stated that he still has many dreams to fulfil because if there is one thing he wants, it is to leave a great legacy in boxing.
