
This morning, in a well-attended press conference held in the Auditorium of the Federal Protection Service facilities in Mexico City, the General Director of Professionalization, Chief Commissioner Gerardo Reyes Salgado presented the annual edition of the Federal Protection Service Amateur Tournament, where various administrative units of the Federal Protection Service will be participating.
The President of the WBC, Mr. Mauricio Sulaimán stressed that this is the type of initiative that our country needs, since it is through sports that positive changes are produced.
He made special emphasis on how imperative it is to practice a sport, not only to work our physical wellbeing, but also to work on our mental health.
The tournament, as in previous years, will take place at the Huayamilpas Ecological, Cultural and Sports Park and will begin on October 22, with the grand final on the 24th.
Mauricio said that boxing goes beyond being a sport. He assured that it is a strategic training that promotes discipline, perseverance, dedication, professionalism and passion, attributes that every police officer and public servant must have.
He added that boxing is one of the sports that manages the three basic principles of a police officer, which are: health, self-confidence and becoming better citizens every day through discipline.
Chief Commissioner Master Gerardo Reyes Salgado commented that on this occasion there was a rigorous selection process, since for this edition the demand will be higher since all the departments participate with their best elements because everyone wants to take the Green and Gold Amateur Belts home.
He urged all participants to give of their best, as he acknowledged that future world champions emerge from these types of tournaments.
Finally, he commented that one of the objectives of the Federal Protection Service is to prepare its members in the academic and sports fields, considering that the latter forms character and a sense of healthy competitiveness, and he assured that the new boxing idols will emerge from this tournament.
