The rematch between Interim World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Russian Alexander Povetkin and Britain’s Dillian Whyte, has been put back to March 27 and will now take place in Gibraltar, Matchroom Sports announced.
The fight was originally scheduled for March 6 in London but had to be moved due to travel restrictions in the UK, with the Covid-19 pandemic.
Matchroom Sports Director Eddie Hearn commented: “We did our best to try and make the match happen on March 6, but with the new travel restrictions it was impossible. Now we have something in a unique setting for one of the fights in the game.”
The event will air in United States on DAZN.
In their first fight on August 22, Povetkin (36-2-1, 25 KOs) survived two knockdowns in round 4 to knock out Whyte (27-2, 18 KOs) in the fifth round with a titanic left uppercut.
