In a thrilling fight from start to finish, the popular Mexican fighter Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz defended his Interim WBC 140-pound crown by drawing with former American World Champion Lamont Roach Jr. this Saturday in the main event of a PBC card organized at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas.
In his first fight at 140 pounds, Roach overcame a knockdown in the third round to offer a great challenge against the hard-hitting Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz.
The judges disagreed, and their fight ended in a majority draw. One judge scored it 115-111 for Cruz, but the other two tallied the action evenly at 113-113 and 113-113.
With this result, Cruz’s record moved to 28-3-2 with 18 knockouts, while Roach’s record stands at 25-1-3 with 10 knockouts.
“I knew he would stand his ground and go toe-to-toe, but I know how to box too,” said Cruz. “People don’t realize I can box.”
“Hats off to ‘Pitbull,’” said Roach. “He’s a great champion himself. I gave the fans a great fight. Back to the drawing board.”
