
The number 1 ranked southpaw in bantamweight, on the WBC lists and WBC Asia champion, the tough and rugged Thai Petch Sor Chitpattana (Tasana Salapat, 76-1, 53KOs), 30 years old, is already in Japan, to challenge the WBC bantamweight champion, the Japanese Junto Nakatani (28-0, 21KOs).
This fight will take place next Tuesday, October 14 at Ariake Arena in Tokyo, in a card presented by Teiken Promotions and which will be broadcast live on Amazon Prime Video and ESPN.
This is his second trip to Japan for the Thai Petch Sor Chitpattana, who made his first appearance in the Japanese ring in 2018 at Ota City General Gymnasium in Tokyo, where he lost against Takuma Inoue.
After his defeat against Takuma Inoue in 2018, he has achieved 27 consecutive victories (20KOs) conquering the WBC Asia regional crown.
Petch Sor Chitpattana’s most recent fight took place in April 2024 at Rangsit International Stadium in the city of Rangsit in the province of Pathum Thani, Thailand, where he defeated Chinese GuiMing Li by decision, defending his WBC Asia title for the fourth time.
For his fight against Nakatani, Petch Sor Chitpattana spent two months training intensively in Pathum Thani, near Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, where he did 130 rounds of sparring, guided by his trainer, former world flyweight champion Chatchai Sasakul.
Upon arriving in Japan, Petch Sor Chitpattana told Japanese reporters: “I have no problem with the weight. I am only 500 grams over the division limit. “I am ready for a war with Nakatani. We are going to have an exciting duel and if I get the chance, I will knock him out.”
