
The WBC family is in mourning following the sad departure of the respected international referee Jesús Arias Torres, who passed away at the age of 89 in the city of Salamanca, Guanajuato.
Born on November 20, 1936, in his beloved Tonalá, Chiapas, Arias Torres built a distinguished career, establishing himself as an unwavering figure of authority inside the ring and earning the deep respect of fighters, promoters, and fans alike.
Jesús Arias Torres was renowned not only for his impeccable technical expertise but also for his distinctive personality. In the ring, he was characterized as a laconic and firm official, whose warnings to contestants were brief yet charged with a natural authority that guaranteed order and the safety of the athletes.
The WBC and its President, Mauricio Sulaimán, extend our most sincere condolences to his family, friends, and the entire boxing community in Chiapas and Guanajuato during this irreparable loss.
