Boxing wizards Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr. and Terence “Bud” Crawford are making light of the pound for pound weight of expectation on their shoulders, contesting the undisputed welterweight championship on Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
In addition to this great fight, “Filipino Flash” Nonito Donaire fights Mexican Alexandro Santiago for the vacant World Boxing Council bantamweight title and the World Boxing Council Silver Lightweight champion, the Mexican Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz, faces the undefeated Giovanni Cabrera.
Spence is the unified WBC, IBF and WBA welterweight world champion, while Crawford holds the WBO 147-pound world championship. The winner of this showdown between undefeated stars will become the first undisputed welterweight world champion in the four-belt era.
Spence vs. Crawford joins Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Thomas Hearns, Pernell Whitaker v. Julio Cesar Chavez and Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao, as a generational clash of superstars ready for a supernova classic.
Both were in close proximity…face to face, cheek to jowl and audaciously cheek to cheek, at the official weigh-in. Spence registered 147 pounds, while Crawford was 146.8 pounds. The final countdown to this epic plus historic night of boxing…is already ticking!
