Robson Conceicao will defend his WBC super featherweight title against O’Shaquie Foster in a highly anticipated rematch on Saturday, November 2 at the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York.
Foster (23-3, 12 KOs), turned pro in 2012 after a decorated amateur career with more than 100 fights and an alternate spot on the U.S. Olympic team.
After setbacks early in his career, including a split decision to Rolando Chinea in July 2016, he mounted a successful resurgence under the guidance of trainer Bobby Benton. Foster then went on a 12-fight winning streak, capturing the WBC crown with a points win over Rey Vargas in February 2023 and defending it away from home in sun-kissed Cancun, with a thrilling 12th-round knockout of Rocky Hernandez last October. Foster then made the second defense of his belt by decisioning Abraham Nova in February.
Conceição dethroned Foster by split decision in a closely contested matchup in July.
Foster, who is undergoing extensive preparation, commented on how mustard keen he is about this rematch:
“The fight was easy for me. I don’t feel like the result was fair. I know I could have been more active and let my hands go more in certain situations. These are factors that won`t occur again.”
There are a lot of things I can do in the ring. I feel like I could have put together more combinations. I could have done a little bit more. But now I have the opportunity to do it again. Not everyone has that opportunity. Many times you can’t get a rematch, so I have the opportunity to do a perfect job this time .
“I can get in the ring and try to do something different. I’m good at re-matches. I used to get them a lot in the amateurs and I always got it back again. This is my first re-match as a pro, so I’m excited. It’s going to be fun!”
