1979.- Puerto Rican Wilfredo Gomez, defended his WBC super bantamweight championship, defeating Nicky Perez by TKO in 5 rounds. The fight took place at Madison Square Garden in New York.  Perez was knocked down three times and Referee Arthur Mercante, stopped the bout.
