On this day in history, the great Mexican world champion defends his crown

Mexican boxing idol Julio César Chávez, defended his WBC super lightweight crown defeating Italian idol, Giovanni Parisi by a UD. Parisi had been Olympic gold medalist at the featherweight division in 1988 . The bout took place in the parking lot of the Caesar´s Palace in Las Vegas. The Referee was Joe Cortez. The Judges were Carol Castellano, Terry Smith and Lou Filippo.
