On this day in history, Sugar Ray Leonard defeated Donny Lalonde

Sugar Ray Leonard, got up from the canvass to defeat Canadian Donny Lalonde by TKO in 9 rounds. With this victory he conquered the WBC light heavyweight title and the WBC super middleweight crown- a division freshly created by the World Boxing Council. The fight took place at Caesar´s Palace Hotel in Las Vegas. The Referee was Richard Steele and the Judges were Chuck Giampa, Stuart Kirshenbaum and Franz Marti.
