On this day in history, Joppy gains revenge over Green

William Joppy regained his world middleweight title with a revenge win over Julio Cesar Green.

Joppy dominated their rematch to claim a unanimous decision over the Dominican, after losing his undefeated record to the former champion five months earlier in a 12-round brawl.

The American defended his belt five times, including a rubber match against Green, before he was stopped in five by ring legend Felix Trinidad in 2001.
