Jack Johnson became the first African American heavyweight world champion after defeating Tommy Burns in Sydney, Australia.
Jack dominated the champion in a one-sided contest before the fight was stopped in the 14th round when police rushed into the ring, saving the Canadian from further punishment.
Johnson reigned for seven years until he was knocked out by Jess Willard in the 26th round of their scheduled 45-rounder in Havana.
