Franco Udella, from Italy, became the first WBC light flyweight Champion. He won by disqualification in 12 rounds of a fight scheduled for 15. The Mexican contender was, Valentín “Duende” Martínez. The bout took place at the San Siro Stadium of Milan. The third man in the ring was Raymond Baldeyrou. Udella’s reign as Champion was brief, as he wasn’t prepared to defend his belt against Rafeal Lovera, and recognition was withdrawn.
