WBC flyweight champion, Julio César Martínez shared his enthusiasm about a brave new world, including a busy 2021.
For Julio, to be champion of the most important WBC is an honor and although things came unexpectedly and very quickly, his commitment is to continue showing why he is the best in the world and make history in boxing. He even assured that is his plan to become a member of the Hall of Fame in the future.
“Everything I do inside and outside of the ring, I do it with great joy, because in addition to enjoying what I do, I feel motivated to know that what I do today will have results in the future and at this point I want to inspire everyone, especially my children.”
Regarding the plans he has for this year, the first thing is to face McWilliams Arroyo and then, if things go well, go in search of the 115-pound title and face Juan Francisco Estrada, current super flyweight champion.
For Rey all rivals are dangerous; However, he`s always been able to adjust to the style of any fighter, perhaps because of the 250 fights that he had in the amateur field.
He also confessed that he had to become more disciplined and changed many habits from his “Old Style” diet to help him to become a better boxer.
Now he is under the strict supervision of his nutritionist Dr. Piedra Cruz. For Julio, making these adjustments has represented a significant change to his physical performance and, of course, in his health.
Julio thanked all those who have been following his career and closed with his classic phrase: “With everything except fear”
