
World Boxing Council bantamweight champion Junto Nakatani of Japan will defend his title against undefeated Mexican David “General” Cuellar on February 24 at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan.
The fight is organized by Teiken Promotions in association with Top Rank, and will be broadcast on ESPN in the United States and on Amazon Prime in Japan.
Busy Nakatani, aged 28 fought three times in 2024, winning each time by knockout. He stopped Alexandro Santiago to win the WBC title, then stopped Vincent Astrolabio in a single round, followed by a sixth-round knockout of Tasana Salapat. Nakatani has a record of 29-0, with 22 knockouts.
Cuellar from Mexico who is five years younger, has a built and burnished an impressive record of 28-0, with 18 knockouts. This will be his first title fight. Cuellar fought twice in 2024, winning both fights by unanimous decision. His most notable victory came in October 2023, stopping Luis Concepcion in eight rounds.
