Nakatani and Nishida for the Bantamweight Titles
Junto Nakatani will make the fourth defense of his WBC bantamweight title against Ryosuke Nishida—but this time, more than one belt is on the line.
Nishida enters the ring as the reigning IBF bantamweight champion.
Junto “Big Bang” Nakatani captured the WBC title on February 24, 2023, with a second-round TKO victory over Alexandro Santiago.
Since then, he has successfully defended his belt against Vincent Astrolabio, Tasana Salapat, and most recently against Mexico’s David “General” Cuellar.
“Big Bang” boasts an impressive undefeated record of 30-0 with 23 knockouts.
Ryosuke Nishida, on the other hand, claimed the IBF title in May 2024 and is set to make his second title defense. His first defense came against Anuchai Donsua in Osaka, a fight he won by knockout in the seventh round.
Nishida remains unbeaten with a 10-0 record, including 2 knockouts.
A win for Nakatani could put him on the path to becoming the undisputed champion at 118 pounds.
The unification bout is scheduled for June 8 at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo, Japan.
