On September 14th, the city of Nagoya in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, will be the stage for one of the most anticipated fights of the year. Undefeated Japanese fighter Naoya Inoue will put his four super bantamweight world titles on the line against former Uzbek champion Murodjon Akhmadaliev at the IG Arena.
The bout brings together two world-class boxers looking to consolidate or reclaim supremacy in the division.
Inoue is considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters. His record of 27 wins with 24 knockouts backs him up as one of the most devastating fighters of the last decade.
Known as “Monster,” the Japanese fighter has had an impeccable career since his professional debut in 2012. In the light flyweight division, he won his first world title in only his sixth fight.
He later dominated the super flyweight division with victories over established champions and, since 2018, he has made his mark in the bantamweight division, becoming the undisputed champion after defeating prestigious rivals, notably Nonito Donaire.
His jump to super bantamweight was equally impressive. In 2023, he unified the titles in the category and currently holds the belts of the World Boxing Council, the World Boxing Association, the World Boxing Organization, and the International Boxing Federation.
For Inoue, fighting at home with the pressure of maintaining his undefeated record and defending all his belts represents a challenge he takes on with confidence and the conviction to continue writing history in Japanese boxing.
Facing him will be Murodjon Akhmadaliev, a boxer who combines refined technique with great physical strength. With a record of 12 wins, 1 loss, and 9 knockouts,
The Uzbek fighter already knows what it means to be a unified champion. In just his eighth professional fight, he won the WBA and IBF belts in 2020 by defeating the American Daniel Roman.
This achievement made him one of the few boxers to win a unified title with such limited professional experience.
Akhmadaliev successfully defended his belts on several occasions, showing his strength against world-class opponents. His only loss came in a close split decision against Marlon Tapales, which meant the loss of his titles.
Since then, he has worked intensely to get back to the top and now he arrives in Japan with the dream of dethroning the “Monster” and regaining the prominence that brought him to the forefront.
The Uzbek pugilist has already shown signs that he is ready for the challenge, holding a public training session in Yokohama, where he displayed part of his physical and technical preparation.
The event attracted the Japanese press and dozens of fans curious to see the Uzbek fighter up close.
Murodjon stated that he feels strong, fast, and motivated to pull off the upset on September 14th, emphasizing that he has studied Inoue and is confident in his strategy to counter the champion’s power.
“I finally have the opportunity to face Inoue. I have worked very hard to get to this position and on fight night I will show the best version of myself. I feel that I will be in the best shape of my entire career.
“I can hurt anyone with my punches, I believe in my power and I know I can use it. I have all the tools to compete at the highest level in every aspect. The ring will show everything, the ring never lies.”
