2025 has been a wonderful year for the WBC with great and memorable events.
We will be publishing iconic moments of the body from this first semester.
The World Boxing Council presented the commemorative Aztec Warrior belt to celebrate important fights between Mexican boxers, honoring the rich history of boxing in this country.

This prestigious belt pays tribute to legendary rivalries of Morales vs. Barrera, Chávez vs. De la Hoya, Zárate vs. Zamora, Torres vs. Nava, and the iconic Israel Vázquez vs. Rafael Márquez series, among many others.
The inaugural “Aztec Warrior” belt was awarded to the winner of the February 1st clash between Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz from Mexico City and Ángel “Tashiro” Fierro from Tijuana at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Former Mexican world champion Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz showed great resolve, defeating his compatriot Ángel “Tashiro” Fierro by unanimous decision.
The action was relentless. Both fighters gave their all in the ring, and after 10 rounds, Cruz prevailed with scorecards of 96-94, 97-93, and 98-92, taking home the first World Boxing Council “Aztec Warrior” belt, in honor and memory of Israel “Magnifico” Vázquez, who recently passed away from cancer.
