At Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan, the super bantamweight OPBF champion, Hiroaki “Crush Boy” Teshigawara (19-2-2, 11KOs), made the first defense of his crown to knock out 21 year old Yuki Iriguchi (10-3-1, 14KOs), in the eighth, in spite of a painful hand injury.
Teshigawara showed his power, but also his grit spirit as he injured his right hand in the first round, but valiantly fought on.
From beginning to end Hiroaki Teshigawara’s dominance was clear and as the fight went on, the prospect of stoppage moved ever closer, until it came at one minute and fifty four seconds of the eighth.
Ambitious and determined Hiroaki will now take time to heal. But his ambition is to dispute the WBC super bantamweight belt, held by Mexican Rey Vargas.
