Mental health at work is a topic that is rarely discussed and that deserves attention from both management and employees, since the work environment can also bring stress, emotional discomfort, cause low energy, feeling burned out and even indicators of anxiety.
There are several factors that can trigger a loss of control in mental health, for example:
A high/excessive workload: Causing an employee’s capabilities to ebb to exhaustion, chronic stress and poor nutrition, since time is reduced and priorities change. Communicate your feelings, do not take on tasks that do not correspond to your area and prioritize your well-being.
Negative or emotionally unhealthy environment: A toxic work environment that can cause conflicts, harassment or lack of support that can deteriorate mental health. Consider establishing healthy limits and talking about coexistence to create a friendlier environment.
Job insecurity: The constant worry or anguish generated by job stability can increase anxiety and stress, causing us to overthink. Take a breath every time you feel distressed and choose to let go of control; being in the present moment is the best alternative.
Good mental health allows employees to work productively, better controlling stress and maintaining healthy relationships with their coworkers, resulting in healthy relationships, not only at work but with their environment in general.
A job that not only respects, but also promotes mental health, is a job that can be truly satisfying, considered in the medium and long term.
