At just 17 years old, Camila Anae Zamorano Encinas, better known as “La Magnífica” (The Magnificent), has made history by becoming the interim atomweight champion of the World Boxing Council (WBC).
On June 14, 2025, in her hometown of Hermosillo, Sonora, she defeated Japan’s Mika Iwakawa by unanimous decision, achieving one of the most important triumphs of her short but solid career.
Born on December 26, 2007, Zamorano began training at age 11 under the guidance of her father and coach, Eleazar Zamorano. Before turning professional, she had a notable amateur career with an approximate record of 53 wins and only 4 losses, in addition to winning a dozen state and regional belts.
Her talent and the lack of opponents in her weight class led her to make her professional debut in 2023.
Since then, the young boxer has remained undefeated with 12 wins, one of them by knockout.
In October 2024, she was crowned the WBC International Champion after defeating Norj Guro, and less than a year later, she achieved glory by winning the interim title in her division. Subsequently, in July 2025, she successfully defended her belt against Yoselyn Pérez López in San Luis Potosí.
In addition to her success in the ring, Camila has been recognized by her city, receiving the 2024 Municipal Sports Award in the female youth category, an honor that highlights not only her athletic achievements but also her impact as an inspiration for new generations.
The rise of “La Magnífica” reflects not only discipline and talent but also the promise of a bright future for Mexican boxing, as at such a young age she has proven she has what it takes to establish herself as an international star.
