
Special Olympics is a global movement fostering a new world of inclusion and community, where each person is accepted and welcomed.
The organization has the support of various sports and entertainment leaders and celebrities. The President of the World Boxing Council, Mauricio Sulaimán, has reaffirmed his commitment as an ambassador for Special Olympics.
Since its founding in 1968, Special Olympics has built a highly valued image of a dependable movement in which its primary focus is to help from the heart.
Special Olympics ambassadors highlight the dignity of people with intellectual disabilities, helping to raise funds and highlighting the work of Special Olympics, having a direct impact on the lives of athletes, contributing to the creation of a world in which each person is accepted and valued for their effort.

ABOUT SPECIAL OLYMPICS:
• THE NEED: Approximately 4% OF THE WORLD’S POPULATION, which is almost 200 MILLION PEOPLE have intellectual disabilities, making them ONE OF THE LARGEST POPULATIONS WITH DISABILITIES in the world.
o People with intellectual disabilities are less likely to choose employment
o More likely to be victims of abuse and violence
o More likely to have low levels of health and problems accessing adequate health services.
