Mattia Occhinero conquers WBC Mediterranean title

In Ancona, Italy, Mattia Occhinero (11-2-1, 7 KOs) defeated Iuliano Gallo (12-5-0, 3 KOs), conquering the WBC Mediterranean super bantamweight title.

The fight was intense from the first round to the last, with both boxers exchanging an array of punches, providing a very good fight.

In the eighth round Gallo was sent off but quickly recovered. In round 9, referee Giovanni Poggi penalized Occhinero with 1 point for intentionally spitting out his mouthpiece.

Occhinero’s dominance was clear, but Gallo showed courage and a big heart.

The card was presented by Alessandra Branco’s A&B Events and supervised by WBC Vice President Houcine Houichi.
