Our traditional “Coffee Tuesdays” moved to the Technological High School of Education and Sports Promotion BTED Cuauhtémoc Campus where the 2024 IMSS Amateur Boxing Tournament is being held.
With WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán, Liliana Pedroza, deputy director of the Technological High School of Education and Sports Promotion, Mr. Héctor García Antonio, Technical Coordinator of Physical Culture and Sports, as well as the sports director of BTED and former world champion Francisco Vargas, Silver monarch Mariana Juárez and the legends Humberto González and Miguel Ángel González, the IMSS amateur boxing tournament began in its 2024 edition with young boxers participated who dream of becoming world champions.
For the President of the WBC, Mauricio Sulaimán, this was a very special day because coming to the heart of Tepito was to remember glorious years of boxing alongside his father. At this point, he thanked in a very special way the invitation of the authorities and highlighted the work of all those involved not only to carry out this tournament but also for the daily work in favor of sport.
He stressed that this is the type of initiatives that need to be replicated in our country, because it is through sport that positive changes are produced.
Mr. Sulaimán made special emphasis on how imperative it is to practice a sport, not only to work our physical body or keep us healthy but also to work on our mental health.
To the participants, he not only wished them success but also urged them to work with discipline and passion because as he himself mentioned, dreams are built day by day. For his part, Mr. Héctor García Antonio, Technical Coordinator of Physical Culture and Sports, thanked all the support of the WBC and the willingness of the world champions, who without hesitation always respond to the call of sport.
Delighted with the response of the participants and the media, the lawyer was emphatic in saying that boxing goes beyond being a sport, he stated that it is a comprehensive training that promotes discipline, perseverance, dedication, professionalism and passion, values that should be encouraged in young people and children.
He explained that the priority has always been to promote sport, providing safe spaces with everything necessary for young people to practice sports.
To conclude his participation, he promised to continue working, so that boxing and sport in general reach all corners of Mexico.
