Mariposa Boxing Club Eyes Long-Term Partnership with WBC
On October 18, 2025, the Zirka Events Hall in Munich buzzed with the kinetic energy of amateur boxing as Mariposa Boxing Club showcased its talent.
The event, a testament to the grit and passion of the local boxing scene, saw WBC representative Ricky Pow presenting medals to the club’s fighters, celebrating their heart, endeavor and tenacity in the ring.
Ricky Pow sat down with Tim Yilmaz, the driving force behind Mariposa Boxing Club, to discuss the gym’s journey and ambitious vision. Yilmaz, a former boxer with 25 amateur fights under his belt, shared his story:
“I started boxing at 23,, pretty late for the sport. A knee injury in 2010 derailed my national championship dreams, but it didn’t stop me. I turned to coaching at my old amateur club and launched Gym Yilmaz, a brand that’s sold over 50,000 pieces of apparel. That success fueled the creation of Mariposa Boxing Club in 2018.”
. Yilmaz’s leadership has transformed the club into a hub for talent, hosting five professional shows and four amateur events to date. The October 18 event at Zirka Events Hall was a vibrant display of the club’s growing influence, with packed stands and fierce competition.
Yilmaz’s vision extends far beyond Munich.
“I want to build a lasting relationship with the WBC,” he told Pow.
“We’re starting with regional shows, but the goal is to scale up to international events, putting Mariposa and Munich on the global boxing map.”
His passion for the sport and entrepreneurial spirit have already laid a strong foundation, blending community pride with professional ambition.
The WBC is excited to witness Mariposa Boxing Club’s rise and looks forward to supporting their journey toward bigger stages. With Tim Yilmaz at the helm, Mariposa is not just a gym—it’s a movement, ready to punch above its weight and inspire the next generation of champions.
