Mario Barrios to Defend WBC Title Against Ryan Garcia

The official announcement has been made for one of the most highly anticipated clashes in the welterweight division.

The reigning World Boxing Council champion, Mario “El Azteca” Barrios, will face global media star Ryan Garcia on February 21 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The bout will be broadcast globally on DAZN, available both as a standalone Pay-Per-View and as part of the “Ultimate” subscription package.

Mario Barrios (29-2-2, 18 KOs) enters this matchup following a period of consolidation at 147 pounds. After capturing the interim title in 2023 with a victory over Yordenis Ugás and defending it against Fabián Maidana,

Barrios was elevated to full champion following Terence Crawford’s departure from the division. His last two defenses ended in draws: first against Abel Ramos in November 2024, and most recently this past July against the 46-year-old Filipino legend, Manny Pacquiao.

For his part, Ryan Garcia (24-2, 20 KOs) seeks redemption after a turbulent year. Garcia returns to the ring following a defeat against Rolando “Rolly” Romero last May.
