
The World Boxing Council is proud to confirm that legendary champion Manny Pacquiao will challenge Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight championship on July 19 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the MGM grand.
Our President, Mauricio Sulaiman, was present in Los Angeles for the official presentation of the sensational boxing card which will feature Pacquiao vs Barrios in the main event and 2 sensational rematches
WBC Superwelterweight champion Sebastian Fundora vs Tim Tszyu and Isaac Pitbull Cruz vs Angel Fierro.
Manny Pacquiao was approved by the WBC Board of Governors to challenge Barrios for the WBC title under the WBC rules and regulations which stipulate that a fighter with proven greatness who successfully passes all medical examinations and receives a license may receive extraordinary permission to fight for the WBC championship.
The WBC had previously ranked Pacquiao at number 5 which created a wave of criticism due to his inactivity, however Pacquiao will challenge for the title under the rules as explained above.
