
World Boxing Council cruiserweight silver champion, Congolese Ilunga Makabu (25-2, 24 KOs), will defend his belt tomorrow night at the Traktor Sport Palace in Chelyabinsk, Russia against the dangerous undefeated local fighter Aleksei Papin (11-0 -0, 10 Ko’s).
Makabu comes from winning the WBC Silver crown by knocking out Russian Dmitry Kudryashov in the fifth round.
Papin fought on the same card June 6, and when he was victorious, he launched his challenge against the WBC Silver champion.
Both fighters overcame the official weigh-in this afternoon, reporting ready to get into the ring. Makabu weighed 198.6 lbs, while Papin was 199.5 lbs.
