
On Saturday, May 30, Lourdes Juarez will defend her WBC light flyweight title against WBC straw-weight champion Yokasta Valle.
Lourdes “Lulú” Juárez fought her way to the elite after years of consistency, building her career amidst one of the most important dynasties in Mexican boxing.
Her breakthrough came in 2020 when she captured the WBC super flyweight world title. After three successful defenses, she lost the belt.
In 2024, Juárez experienced a resurgence. With the WBC light flyweight title vacant, she faced Yesenia Gómez and defeated her over 10 rounds.
In her most recent bout, “Pequeña Lulu” went to war with fellow Mexican Yesica Nery Plata, earning a majority decision victory.This will be her third defense of the Green and Gold Belt. Juárez holds a record of 39-4 with 5 KOs.
Meanwhile, Yokasta Valle has been synonymous with dominance in the lower weight classes.
Early in her career, she became an atomweight world champion. In 2022, she secured her second world title at light flyweight.
However, it was in 2024 when the Costa Rican champion captured the WBC strawweight title, quickly making it her own with multiple defenses and solidifying herself as one of the most consistent figures in women’s boxing.
