Erickson Lubin defended his WBC Silver Super Welterweight title and won a WBC eliminatory, by knockout in the sixth round, over former champion Jeison Rosario.
Southpaw Lubin (24-1, 17 KOs) won his sixth fight in a row since his only loss, a first-round knockout against reigning unified champion Jermell Charlo in 2017. A rematch between the two could be next for Lubin, especially if Charlo defeats Brian Castaño, on July 17.
Lubin dropped Rosario with a combination of two body shots in the sixth, taking the wind out of him. Lubin quickly cornered Rosario again and dropped him a second time with a three-punch combination.
This time, Rosario, 26, was unable to continue and Referee Jerry Cantu stopped the fight at 1:42 of the sixth round.
