Lourdes Juárez Retains WBC Title by Defeating Yesica Nery Plata

At the MVP Prospects 16 event, held on October 18, 2025, at the South Padre Island Convention Center in Texas, Lourdes Juárez (Mexico) faced fellow Mexican Yesica Nery Plata with the WBC light flyweight world title on the line.

After ten intense rounds, the judges scored the fight as follows: 95-95, 96-94, and 96-94, awarding a majority decision victory to Juárez.

With this win, Juárez improves her record to 39-4 (5 KOs) and successfully completes her second defense of the WBC mini flyweight/light flyweight title.

Meanwhile, Nery Plata is now 30-3 (3 KOs) after a narrow defeat.

The bout was closely contested: Nery Plata was effective with her jab and body attacks, while Juárez applied more pressure, threw a higher volume of punches, and used superior mobility, which ultimately allowed her to make the difference at close and mid-range.
