World Boxing Council Bridger champion Kevin Lerena (30-3, 14 KOs) will defend his crown against the division’s Silver champion, Ukrainian Serhiy Radchenko, on May 1 in South Africa.
Lerena won the WBC interim title in November 2023 with a unanimous decision over Senad Gashi. He was promoted to full champion in October 2024 when Lawrence Okolie vacated the belt and moved up to heavyweight.
After spending 2023 establishing himself as a bridger, Lerena returned to heavyweight in early 2024. But a narrow loss to Justis Huni last March prompted Lerena to consider returning to bridger.
Radchenko (11-7, 5 KOs), 37, has won four fights since 2021, earning the WBC Silver title.
The WBC recognizes the professionalism of both fighters, who submitted their medical examinations and pre-weigh-ins.
