In a morning filled with energy and social commitment, the World Boxing Council’s iconic “Martes de Café” —held this time in Puebla, Mexico— featured the presence of Josejas, the ambassador who has revolutionized the connection between sport and the spirit.
Before the specialized press and the boxing family, Josejas reaffirmed his mission: to use boxing not only as a combat sport but as a vehicle for healing and empowerment for new generations.
Known for his distinctive shaggy appearance, Josejas has transcended the “influencer” label to become a pillar of the WBC’s social programs.
During the event, it was highlighted how his content on platforms like Instagram (@josejasbox) has managed to break through the screen to impact deep realities, especially among vulnerable youth and children facing health battles.
During his intervention, Josejas spoke about Down Syndrome awareness, noting that it goes far beyond a date on the calendar; it is a call to recognize and celebrate the invaluable contribution of these individuals in our families, workplaces, and communities.
He stated that inclusion is not an act of charity, but a fundamental right that allows us to break down prejudices and value the talent, perseverance, and unique perspective that each individual brings to the world—emphasizing that boxing is the ideal tool to achieve this.
Furthermore, he mentioned that March is not just a reminder of historical struggles, but a vibrant celebration of female empowerment in all its facets, honoring the resilience, intelligence, and determination of women who have broken barriers.
The upcoming bout this Saturday between “Bonita” Sánchez and Tamara Demarco for the WBC crown is a clear example of this strength.
In an emotional moment, the children of the two fighters starring in the card —to be held at the Auditorio GNP Seguros in Puebla— took the stage. Josejas presented them with medals as a form of recognition, highlighting the values of boxing and noting that, although their mothers will be rivals this Saturday, they share an unconditional love for their families.
For 2026, Josejas plans to continue his labor as an international ambassador, carrying the WBC flag to new corners of the world and proving that behind that “ball of hair” (bola de pelos), there is a soul dedicated to service and social well-being through boxing.
