World Boxing Council super lightweight champion, Jose Carlos Ramirez, wanted to do something to help Maxim ‘Mad Max’ Dadashev’s family, who passed on July 23 due to injuries suffered in the ring.
After defeating Maurice Hooker in a superlight weight unification fight on July 27 in Arlington, Texas, Ramirez and his manager, Rick Mirigian, offered to the highest bidder the gloves, shoes and pants Ramirez used in the fight.
The board of The Big Fresno Fair, the largest annual event in the Central Valley of California, stepped forward with an offer of $ 10,000.
One hundred percent of the proceeds were sent to the Dadashev family, and the items are currently displayed next to a life-size statue of Ramirez at the Fresno County Historical Museum, California.
“I am honored to have been able to help Maxim’s family,” said Ramirez. “Each fighter risks his/her life in the ring. My prayers are for his family.”
“These items are incredibly important to our museum, especially with the recent addition of the life-size statue in honor of Jose,” said John C. Alkire, CEO, The Big Fresno Fair.
“When we learned that this was going to support a family during a moment of loss, we all agreed that we wanted to make this donation.”
“From the bottom of our hearts, and on behalf of Maxim’s family and our entire team, we would like to thank José Carlos, his team and The Big Fresno Fair for their generosity,” said Egis Klimas, Dadashev manager.
