WBC Interim middleweight Champion Jesus Ramos Jr, is determined to become Absolute Champion, but standing in his way is the current Supremo Carlos Adames.
On a visit to Mexico, Jesus, who was presented a WBC ring and bracelet, while his father Jesus Senior was presented with the now famous WBC broad towel design Coaches Belt, by President Mauricio Sulaiman, made his intentions crystal clear.
Champion Carlos Adames who will defend his Green and Gold Belt against Austin ”Ammo” Williams on January 31st at Madison Square Garden, and Jesus is determined to fight the winner. The burly, powerful five feet ten inches tall, twenty four year old southpaw, who is personable, charming, bi-lingual and soft spoken outside business hours, yet as hard as nails in the ring, having most recently defeated Shane Mosley Jr by UD, said:
”I want Carlos Adames. He`s the next goal for me. He`s the WBC Champion and if he gets the win over Ammo Williams that is the fight I`m looking for. Whoever wins will have to bite the bullet and fight me. I`m ready, I want to be the full champion and that`s my target. I`m still only twenty four and I`ve got a lot more development to come. You never stop learning in boxing and I`m going to continue to grow and it`s only up from here. I`m not even in my prime yet and when this happens it`s going to be a whole different story.”
Jesus`s record is 24-1, 19 KO`s. His only defeat was a close UD to Erickson Lubin. He says: ”For a while I wanted the rematch. Unfortunately he never gave it to me, took another route and ended up losing to Virgil Ortiz, so it`s not so intriguing any more. But, I wish him the best and thank him for giving me that opportunity. Without that fight, I wouldn`t be here. In that fight I learned a lot, grew a lot and I had to go through that to become.”
Watchful and attentive, Jesus`s analysis of Carlos Adames is specifically: ”Carlos is a very complete fighter, he`s very intelligent, he`s got head movement and a great Corner behind him, but that`s what I`m here for. I`m here to challenge myself, put on a great fight, which helps my legacy grow. You get the fights and the trilogies like Morales Vs Barrera and Pacquiao Vs Marquez. They will be known and remembered for those fights forever and that`s what I want for my legacy.
”At this weight, I feel comfortable and ready for the Big Time. I know what hunger is and I`m now even hungrier. I`m a very sore loser, it took a while to get over my only defeat and I never want to go through that again, so no stone unturned.”
