New super flyweight champion of the World Boxing Council, Jesse Rodríguez, wants to face the winner of Chocolatito and Rey Martínez
Jesse conquered the title after defeating former world champion Carlos Cuadras last Saturday, at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona, in what was the most important victory of his professional career.
Rodriguez, 22, commented: “I had a very tough fight. Cuadras brought out a Jesse Rodriguez that I didn’t know was in me. I’m happy about that. He’s a true warrior. At one point I thought I was going to knock him out, but he’s very strong. I stuck to the fight plan, and I used my angles. I stayed calm and kept working,
“I feel good at this weight, so I’ll stay here for now, I’d like the opportunity to fight the winner of Chocolatito vs. Martinez. I’m open to give you the best fights the fans want to see.”
Roman Chocolatito González will face Rey Martínez. Rey replaces Juan Francisco Estrada who tested positive for Covid-19. The fight is on March 5 at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California.
