On September 30, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, Jermell Charlo, undisputed super welterweight champion, will challenge the undisputed super middleweight champion, Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez, on an historic night to remember.
Jermell Charlo is a 33-year-old American boxer, born in Lafayette, Louisiana, but living with his family in Houston, Texas, from a very early age. His twin brother, Jermall, is the WBC world middleweight champion with an undefeated record of 32-0. The Charlo twins have been two huge names in US boxing over the last decade.
In 2013 Jermell won the first major title of his career, the WBC Super Welterweight Continental Americas.
Jermell is currently the undisputed super welterweight champion: he first won the WBC title, in 2016 with a knockout over John Jackson, and made three defenses, including a first-round knockout against Erickson Lubin, until he lost against Tony Harrison in 2018. He regained the title by knocking out Harrison in 2019 and began his path to unifying the entire division.
Jermell is 1.83 meters tall, has an arm reach of 1.85 meters and has a record of 35 wins, one draw and one loss in his 37 fights as a professional, since he debuted in December 2007 aged seventeen.
