WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman visited the UK this week for a very special presentation to honor trainer Jamie Moore, who works with undisputed super lightweight champion Chantelle Cameron.
The former Irish, British, Commonwealth and European super welterweight champion enjoyed a highly successful professional career between 1999 and 2010, winning 32 of 37 bouts, and now, at 44, he has become a highly regarded and greatly admired coach, guiding the footsteps of undefeated champion Chantelle Cameron (18-0, 8KO), to become undisputed champion at 140 pounds in November of last year; status she recently endorsed in her career best performance and win, defeating Ireland’s Katie Taylor in Dublin last month.
Mauricio Sulaimán hosted a luncheon at the Clermont Hotel on the Strand, to present Jamie with the special honour, at which a host of boxing stars were on hand to join in the celebrations, including Scott Welch, George Groves, Spencer Oliver and Michael Watson.
“We like to meet and mingle with the boxing community whenever we get the chance. We’ve been in Rome for a special job so we’re taking a couple of days to be here in London. This is a time to be with Chantelle Cameron, our proud WBC undisputed champion; and recognize the great work of Jamie Moore with the WBC Trainer`s Belt, which is the inspiration of Angelo Dundee, representing a trainer’s towel. It is a special trophy for a coach, who is fundamental and instrumental in the crowning of a WBC champion,” commented Mauricio Sulaimán.
