With the aim of promoting Mexican boxing globally, the International Boxing and Fitness Show will take place on November 19 and 20, 2022 at the Expo Reforma in Mexico City in alliance with the World Boxing Council, led by Mauricio Sulaimán, plus more than 50 companies related to the industry.
Today, in the south of Mexico City at Hacienda de Cortes, the boxing family gathered to witness the official announcement of this historic event in the region.
José Luis Grajales, director of the event, confirmed the holding of the great event, originally scheduled for November 2019 was delayed by the pandemic. The presentation was attended by the President of the World Boxing Council, Mauricio Sulaimán, the world champions Ana María Torres, Carlos Zárate, Juan Hernández, César Bazán, Yessica Chávez, Jose Antonio Aguirre, as well as businessmen Moshe Tussie, from Adidas Boxing and Ricardo Cerezo, from The White Collar Boxing Club.
The WBC leader confirmed the installation of a World Boxing Council museum in a section of the 1,290 square meters of exhibition, which will also include the José Sulaimán auditorium; a ring for exhibitions and autograph signing section, as well as 58 spaces for commercial booths.
Accompanied by Adriana Tavares, commercial director of the event, Grajales announced that almost 2,000 attendees have registered so far through the event page. These people plus those who register before July 31 will have free access. Starting in August the cost of attendance will be 250 pesos per adult and free children, accompanied by an adult.
Grajales commented that boxing is the fastest growing sport in Mexico according to the prestigious Mitosky polling house. Pugilism rose 14.2% among fans interested in the sport or its practice, well above baseball, American football and soccer.
“We know that this growth was slowed down by the pandemic, which even forced the International Box and Fitness Show to wait for two years. However, a brave group of businessmen, promoters and the World Boxing Council stood up, committed to keeping alive the sport most loved by Mexicans,” Grajales said.
Within the exhibition there will be an Amateur boxing tournament, autograph signing with great national and international boxing champions, fitness master classes, conferences and clinics for both disciplines.
It will also have a ring for exhibitions, an interactive section, an area for signing autographs and conferences, as well as more than 50 stands to publicize all the news that exists in Mexico and other countries of the most successful sport for Mexicans around the world.
President of the WBC, Mauricio Sulaimán, confirmed the organization’s support for the organization of this historic event through the participation of various world champions. He thanked the professionalism of Luis Grajales and Adriana Tavares and wished them the best of luck in this new adventure that will undoubtedly benefit the world of boxing.
