On December 27, the city of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will host one of the most anticipated fight cards of the year, featuring the bout between undisputed champion Naoya “Monster” Inoue and undefeated Mexican Alan David “Rey” Picasso as the headliner.
The fight will take place at the Mohammed Abdo Arena, a venue with a capacity for over 20,000 spectators, and is part of the event called “The Ring V: La Noche del Samurai.”
Inoue (31-0, 28 KOs), considered one of the potent pound-for-pound fighters in the world, will put his four super bantamweight world titles and The Ring title on the line. This will be his sixth defense as the undisputed champion of the division.
Picasso (32-0-1, 17 KOs), 25, comes in as Mexico’s top hope to pull off an upset and become an undisputed world champion, in what will be the most important fight of his career. He will be drawing on every scrap of his experience.
The card will also feature other high-level bouts, including WBC flyweight champion Junto Nakatani facing Mexican Sebastián Hernández in one of the co-main events, along with several matchups between Japanese and Mexican fighters aiming to make a mark in the season finale.
The evening will be broadcast internationally and is expected to gather some of boxing’s biggest names in what promises to be a top-tier spectacle.
