On September 23 in Orlando, Florida, Richardson Hitchins (16-0, 7 KOs) will face José “Chon” Zepeda (36-3, 27 KOs) for the World Boxing Council Super Lightweight Silver title.
This will be an attractive duel between the veteran who has had higher level battles, against a young contender of potential and promise.
Hitchins commented on Matchroom’s Flash Knockdown Podcast:
“Now I will have my first show headlining a card against someone who has a big name in the division. It shows that the skills I display in my combat have paid off to reach this part of the journey.
Zepeda has competed on the world stage. It’s a level up from my previous opponents, but if I am who I think I am, I have to win this fight.
“There is a lot at stake right now. My job is to go out and dominate Zepeda and show who I am, then we can see the picture of the division.
“I see myself as a sports legend, who has mastered the art of boxing. I want to inspire the next generation. If you look at the progression in my career from my amateur status to now, I can relate to the young talent that is emerging.”.
