Devin Haney (27-0, 15 KO’s), World Boxing Council lightweight champion, will face unified champion George Kambosos Jr. (20-0, 10 KO’s) for the undisputed world title on Saturday, June 4 at the Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.
Haney and his trainer and father Bill held a workout open to the media at Top Rank Gym. Haney is making his fifth world title defense and trying to become the king of lightweights at just 23 years old.
Devin (27-0, 15 KOs), a Las Vegas resident, won seven national titles as an amateur. He turned professional at the age of 17 in December 2015, showing his qualities during his first fights.
He rose through the ranks with important wins over Mason Menard, Juan Carlos Burgos and Antonio Moran. His knockout of Moran was voted ESPN’s 2019 Knockout of the Year.
Devin won the WBC lightweight title by defeating Zaur Abdullaev in September 2019. He has defended the Green and Gold Belt four times and has defeated former world champions in his last three fights.
In 2021, Haney outpointed former Triple division champion Jorge Linares over 12 rounds, and followed up with a clear points victory over former interim champion Joseph “JoJo” Diaz Jr. last December.
The card, promoted by DiBella Entertainment, Ferocious Promotions, Top Rank, Devin Haney Promotions, Duco Events and TEG Sport, will air live on ESPN.
