Former undisputed lightweight champion and current World Boxing Council super lightweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) and former world champion Ryan García (24-1, 20 KOs), were present at a conference press in Los Angeles to promote their upcoming fight. And choice words were spoken, during some frank exchanges.
It`s presented by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Haney Promotions, KingRy Promotions and Matchroom Boxing. This event will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Saturday, April 20 and will be broadcast live on DAZN.
Both boxers were eloquent:
“I have respect for Ryan. We shared the ring six times when we were kids, we grew up together. However, in the last few days, I have lost a lot of respect for him because we have a fight. The media is here to watch us. I am a true professional in everything I do. I’m happy to be here. I worked hard to be here. I sacrificed a lot to be here and at the end of the day, the world will see it on April 20,” said Devin.
“I want to paint the picture for all of you. My family had lost everything. We were sleeping in cars. Five children, one room, with a dream, and with God we simply let him guide our lives. And through that whole process, I had to push myself. Everything I have today, I earned. Nobody gave me anything, I never had money. I’m really a small town boy and I’m just becoming a man,” Ryan said.
