Handsome success for Cleto Reyes as a Notorious victorious Brand

The Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) has officially, notably and nobly granted the Declaration of Notorious Brand to Cleto Reyes gloves, internationally known as “the Gloves of Champions.”

The event, broadcast on live social networks, was led by Juan Lozano Tovar, General Director of IMPI, with the participation of Elizabeth Reyes Aleman together with  her siblings Magdalena and Alberto, who combine as the nucleus of Cleto Reyes Board of Directors, in addition to the former champion Julio César Chávez and Mauricio Sulaimán Saldívar, President of the World Boxing Council.

“Thanks to the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property, for recognizing our work and helping to protect it through intellectual property. It is a source of pride for all of us who are part of this great family,” Elizabeth Reyes said, adding:

“In 1945, my grandfather Don Cleto managed to get his gloves to be used in the first world championship fight. There and then the concept of Mexican gloves began to take shape. Later, my father Alberto with tremendous effort and supreme dedication consolidated the brand.”

Mauricio Sulaimán commented: “Having Julio César Chávez here is something very special. The highest representative of Mexican boxing, with a history of 14 years undefeated, 37 championship fights and all the records we can imagine. loyalty is what Julio represents. He never gave in to the temptations of sponsorship or money, and he always remained loyal to Cleto Reyes because they were the gloves with which he became champion.”

Julio Cesar Chávez said: “I always felt very safe with Cleto Reyes gloves, during the six times I was crowned world champion, thank God.”

The head of IMPI, Juan Lozano, said: “What a thrill it is to be with all of you.  I want to congratulate the Reyes family for this important and wonderful achievement, an example of Mexican leadership expounded abroad that makes us so proud to be Mexican. We are talking about an example of Mexican business success. As is the story of Julio César Chávez, the effort of a Mexican that thrilled Mexico to be resonant. Cleto Reyes has also made Mexico resplendent, and  we have seen the gloves on  the hands of him and other great champions.”
