
The WBC along with the President of Mexico, Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and Mtro Miguel Torruco, continue to add celebrities from the world of sports to the National Boxing Class.
The WBC announces former basketball player and municipal president of Compostela, Gustavo Ayon, as Ambassador, thus adding one more municipality to this historic class.
“The World Boxing Council, in recognition of your great sporting achievements and the impulse of development that you are bringing to Compostela in your capacity as municipal president, names you ambassador “BC for the event of the National Boxing Class, ‘Building Peace’ that, in conjunction with the President of Mexico, Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and through Lic. Miguel Torruco, we will carry out this April 6, in the framework of the International Day of Sport for the Development of Peace.”
Gustavo Ayón was one of the best basketball players in the history of Mexico. Beginning his career with the Xalapa Falcons. His talent in the fast-paced momentum took him to the top rarefied circuit of professional basketball.
Gustavo was part of several NBA teams such as the New Orleans Pelicans (at that time they were called New Orleans Hornets), the Orlando Magic, Milwaukee Bucks and the Atlanta Hawks. He was also part of Real Madrid where he won the Copa del Rey being the MVP of the game.
Ayón is currently the municipal president of his native Compostela, Nayarit. He declared his excitement at being chosen as Ambassador of this National Boxing Class.
