
Mexican boxing will take center stage once again on May 15 at the historic Arena Coliseo, where young prospect Juan Pérez, better known as “Güerito de Tepito,” will headline the “Puro Golpe Mexicano” card.
At just 16 years old, the charismatic Mexico City winderkind will face his second professional bout against a foreign opponent, marking a key step in his development in the professional ranks.
Hailing from the traditional neighborhood of Tepito, a historic breeding ground for great fighters, “Güerito” has drawn attention not only for his in-ring style but also for his discipline outside of it.
His preparation has been intense, including morning runs, boxing sessions, sparring, and physical conditioning throughout the day.
The event, organized by his own promotional company Güerito Promotions with support from Astur Boxing, will feature a dozen young talents from both the professional and amateur scenes, aiming to showcase the next generation of Mexican boxing.
Among the names on the card are promising fighters such as Valeria Pérez, a multi-time Verde y Oro WBC tournament champion, as well as sisters Atari and Atzimba García, descendants of the legendary Rodolfo “Chango” Casanova, adding historical significance to the event.
Arena Coliseo, one of the most iconic venues in Mexican boxing since its opening in 1943, will once again host a night that blends tradition with renewal.
With an expected attendance of around 2,500 spectators, a packed house.
Theevent is projected to sell out, fueled by the excitement of seeing one of the capital’s rising prospects perform in front of his home crowd.
