Dalton Smith defeated Walid Ouizza in one round to successfully defend his Silver Super Lightweight title and win the EBU title, in a fight held at the Nottingham Arena in Nottingham, England.

Japanese Naoya Inoue put on a great show, defending his super bantamweight crown by knocking out Korean Ye Joon Kim in the fourth round, at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo.

Don José Sulaimán’s friends traveled from different parts of the world to the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico City, to remember his life and give thanks for what he generously gave to the world of boxing. This was the eleventh anniversary of his death.

Former Canadian champion Jean Pascal, was visiting Mexico City to be present at the mass in honor of Don José Sulaimán 11 years after his death. Taking advantage of his stay in Mexico City, he visited the offices of the WBC.

A large meeting was held in London with boxing people from all over the world.

At the Old Royal Naval College in London, The Ring magazine organized a mega event that brought together the most select of world boxing, to present the awards in recognition of the best of 2024. This gala event was promoted by Turki Alalshikh, who bought the rights to The Ring magazine a few months ago, promising to give continuity and even more relevance to the historic magazine.


Caroline Dubois, lightweight champion of the World Boxing Council, recorded a draw against Jessica Camara, despite her boxing being above the Canadian, in a fight they held in the United Kingdom.

The WBC held a Boxing Fitness Trainers Seminar in the coastal city of Qingdao, China.

Young Ruzgar Savas, a leukemia patient, was visited by WBC Turkey represented by Oksana Semenishina and Serdar Avci

January 6
Journalist Fernando Schwartz received the WBC Professional Brilliance Award for his great career. Fernando has covered ten World Cups, eleven Olympic Games and has conducted wonderful interviews with the elite of sports superstars.

The national director of Promotion of Sport and Wellbeing of the federal government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco, and the President of the WBC Mauricio Sulaimán, presented the Mass Boxing Class that will take place on April 6.

The 80th Mass for Sport in Venezuela was held in Caracas, in which the Venezuelan Olympic medalist Joel Finol, among other former world champions, were present.

The Autonomous Municipality of Caguas, Puerto Rico, highlighted the greatness of one of its most illustrious sons, Miguel Cotto, designating that day as “Miguel Cotto Day.”
